About Taj Williams

Artist Bio:

Taj Williams from Bellingham, Washington, is a father and artist with roots in Tacoma. Growing up, art captivated him, from Van Gogh prints to street art discovered during his skateboard-loving teenage years. Tragically at 15, Taj lost his little brother in a pipeline explosion, an event that steered him towards a self-destructive path filled with legal troubles. Despite these hardships, including his older brother's accident and his niece's drowning—an incident that deeply affected him—he was determined to pursue art school and went to a fine art college for a BFA in photography and video. Supported by his family, despite facing academic challenges and dealing with PTSD, Taj nearly completed his art education, only falling short in art history. Post-education, as a father to twins and navigating custody after separating from their mother, Taj faced new challenges with the onset of the pandemic. His journey underscores resilience and the healing power of art through personal loss and adversity.

“I strongly believe that art can heal people and feel like right now is the time to truly test its healing capabilities by offering a set of programs and mural initiatives to every major city with art organizations operating in them. We have the walls and we have the artists, all we need is support.”
